The “Difference” Project

“Difference” Project

The “Difference” Project is our long-term project which will turn into one of our next productions! It is about celebrating “difference” within Freiburg and is a collaborative community theatre project. During this time, we are accepting submissions for stories and further written material that will be used for the project. You can find the call for contributions below. This page will be updated regularly, with more information about the project in the future. If you are excited and/or impatient to know more further information about the project please don’t hesitate to contact us at:

Call for Contributions

In our upcoming theatre project, we want to explore and celebrate “difference” in Freiburg. What better way to do this than to reach out and collect stories from fellow residents?

Therefore we are looking for contributions from anyone and everyone who has ever had the feeling of being different, has been othered or left out.

If at any point during your stay in Freiburg, you experienced feeling different or othered, be it in a friendly social environment or a formal bureaucratic setting and you want it heard, send us an email or a message on our Instagram or Facebook page. We are looking primarily for short stories (or better yet, short plays), but also encourage poems, personal essays, or any other medium with which you want to express your story. If you have a story to tell but can’t find the words, just let us know, and we will come up with a way to bring it to life. We have no language requirements, however, entries that are not English will be translated. Of course, we will make sure to stay as close to the source material as possible.

Complete anonymity is guaranteed for those who wish to remain anonymous.

We will work as a community in adapting these stories to the stage, trying to create an intercultural place for mutual understanding in a theatre context. We will put on the play in 2021*.

We welcome any and every story set in Freiburg.

Some examples for topics are:

  • Gender identity & sexual orientation
  • Homelessness
  • (Im)migration & Asylum seeking
  • Racism
  • (Dis)ability

The deadline for written texts is until January 15, 2021.

We look forward to hearing from you!

You can reach us at the email address provided above or through our social media channels.

*This date might be postponed depending on the COVID-19 situation.
