George Bernard Shaw Pygmalion |

William Shakespeare Troilus and Cressida |
Before this, many other plays were produced in the English department. Unfortunately, our records don't go back any further. But legend has it that in the 1940's and 50's, our group was headed by a professor who had studied drama with Thornton Wilder . . . We believe that our roots lie somewhere in the late 16th century in Stratford, England, where Albert Ludwig, shortly before founding our university, was a student of what's-his-name. That's not even a rumor, though. Call it an assumption. Not a rumor but honest-to-god truth: In the 1970's, a now well-known German author headed the English drama group. |
