Die Badische Zeitung hat am 12 Dezember eine Rezension über die maniACTs Aufführung von Beyond Therapy gebracht.
Beyond Therapy erzählt eigentlich eine ganz normale Geschichte: Mann trifft Frau, und trotz der beiderseits gehegten Hoffnungen will es nicht so recht klappen. Normal? Vielleicht doch nicht - denn Bruce hat eigentlich schon einen Freund, der aus nahe liegenden Gründen gar nicht begeistert ist von der geplanten "Umorientierung", und sowohl Bruce als auch seine neue Freundin Prudence sind in therapeutischer Behandlung.
Ob so eine Geschichte erfolgreich enden kann, und ob das Möchtegern-Pärchen tatsächlich den Verstand verloren hat, verfolgt der Amerikaner Christopher Durang in seiner spritzigen Komödie bis hin zu einem eher unerwarteten Ende. Der ganz normale Wahnsinn bei der Suche nach Liebe und Beziehungsglück jedenfalls erweist sich wieder einmal als bestens geeignet, für einen unterhaltsamen und Lachtränen garantierenden Abend zu sorgen!

At first sight, Beyond Therapy tells an old, old story: boy meets girl, and despite their mutual interest things don't go as planned between the two. Normal? Maybe not - for one thing, Bruce already has a boyfriend (who isn't exactly happy with this reorientation thing, for obvious reasons), and for another, both Bruce and his prospective girlfriend Prudence spend a suspiciously high amount of time seeing their respective analysts...
Whether a romance like that can ever be successful, or whether the would-be couple are really out of their right minds - American playwright Christopher Durang explores it all in this hilarious and quite literally out-of-the-ordinary comedy about love, relationships and psychotherapy. The everyday madness of the quest for the ideal partner certainly proves to be a guarantee for a tear-jerkingly funny and entertaining evening with the maniACTs!
